As a world leader in drive technology and a pioneer in drive-based automation, SEW-EURODRIVE has established a reputation for quickly solving the most difficult power transmission and motion control challenges. We introduced the gearmotor in 1931. In the 80 years since then, we have been bringing the best in drive technology to our customers. That commitment has led to a history of innovations — the first variable speed gearmotor, early development of electronic drives, some of the first successful efforts to decentralize control, and the first motor with energy-efficient copper rotors. Exceptional solutions have made SEW-EURODRIVE the standard for drive performance and reliability in the United States since we first began working here in the early 1970s. Enthusiastic customer response to our variable speed gearmotors led us to open our first assembly center in Troy, Ohio, in 1975. Within a few short years, SEW was operating four additional regional assembly centers across the U.S. — in Bridgeport, NJ; Dallas, TX; Hayward, CA, and Lyman, SC. Today, we provide expert application assistance and products from our five regional assembly centers, more than 60 technical sales offices, and a nationwide distributor network. The Lyman, SC facility opened in 1983 and the location has also been home to SEW-EURODRIVE's U.S. corporate headquarters since 1987. The complex now includes the U.S. DriveAcademy® training center and a world-class manufacturing plant. The 250,000 square foot manufacturing facility, which makes SEW-EURODRIVE's popular K-Series helical bevel gear reducers, was honored with the Plant Engineering Magazine 2007 Top Plant Award for innovation, employee empowerment, and environmental responsibility. The plant has more than doubled its manufacturing capacity over the past 7 years to meet growing customer demand.
